Empowering women with disabilities

This project seeks to promote the economic and social empowerment of women with disabilities in rural areas by addressing the unique barriers they face in accessing education, employment, and financial resources. Through the introduction of sustainable and income-generating piggery farming initiatives, the project will create pathways for economic participation, improved livelihoods, and greater social inclusion.

Project Objectives:

  • To economically empower 50 women with disabilities by supporting their engagement in sustainable and profitable piggery farming.

  • To enhance household income and food security for women with disabilities and their families.

  • To foster the social inclusion and community participation of women with disabilities through entrepreneurship and cooperative group models.

Key Activities:

  1. Provision of Start-Up Capital:
Each woman will receive support to purchase piglets and establish a small-scale piggery business.

  2. Cluster-Based Implementation:

    • Women will be organized into clusters of 10.

    • Each group will receive 10 piglets (one per participant).

    • As the pigs reproduce, each cluster will donate 10 piglets to form a new group of women in a different location—ensuring project sustainability and expansion.

  3. Veterinary Support:
Provision of initial vaccinations and essential veterinary care to ensure the health and productivity of the animals.

  4. Family Planning Outreach:
Integrated family planning education and services will be provided to support holistic wellbeing for participants and their households.

  5. Monitoring and Evaluation:
Regular follow-up and impact assessments will be conducted to track progress, ensure accountability, and inform future scaling of the initiative.
