Kapeni Water and sanitation

Sustain for Life is improving access to safe and reliable water in Nchere, Mponda, Chikhala, and Chimowa villages through the drilling and installation of four boreholes—one in each community.

The project combines access to clean water with sanitation and hygiene education to help reduce waterborne diseases and improve the health and well-being of families. Environmental Health Officers will support communities with ongoing education on safe water use, sanitation, and good hygiene practices.

To ensure long-term sustainability, Water Management Committees will be established and trained in borehole operation, maintenance, and management. Communities will also be encouraged to contribute towards future maintenance and repairs, strengthening local ownership and helping ensure that safe water remains available for years to come.
