In Kaabong District, a significant number of school-age children with special education needs remain out of school. Currently, only 2% of these children are enrolled in school. Unfortunately, even this small percentage often drops out due to inadequate attention from stakeholders and a lack of suitable infrastructure to support their learning.

This project aims to create a conducive learning environment and increase the accommodation capacity of schools, ensuring these children receive the education and support they deserve

Project Activities:

  • Renovate a computer room for visually impaired children.
  • Purchase 10 computers and install a solar power system.
  • Construct toilets and a shower room, including an incinerator for the girls’ toilet.
  • Install water tanks for rainwater harvesting and shower use.
  • Renovate and extend an old building to create four classrooms for children with special needs (SNE).
  • Build a four-bedroom house for SNE teachers.
  • Create safe walkways in the courtyard for the secure movement of SNE children.

Project Goals:

  • Provide children with special needs a conducive learning environment.
  • Ensure visually impaired children have access to decent accommodation.
  • Teach adaptive technology to children with special needs.
